Water security is a key public policy priority for Katy, influenced by recent droughts (2022-2023) and flooding risks. Past flood fatalities highlight the urgent need for effective water and flood management.
The proposal outlines a comprehensive water strategy that focuses on:
Key actions include:
Critical measures such as drought-tolerant landscaping, routine hydrant inspections, and developing emergency water reserves are essential for service maintenance and first responder safety.
I support targeted investments in better lighting, sidewalks, and traffic planning — especially in areas residents tell us feel unsafe or neglected. That means working with Public Works and regional partners like HGAC to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow.
We also have to be smarter about construction. Katy’s fiber installation moratorium showed us what happens when projects damage roads and water lines. We need strong protections for our infrastructure. And with extreme weather becoming more common, I’ll push for regular updates to our emergency operations plans so we’re ready for floods, droughts, and disasters.
Smart planning today keeps Katy safe tomorrow.
Small businesses are the backbone of Katy — and they deserve a city government that works with them, not against them.
I want to expand access to grants, disaster recovery funds, and state and federal resources so local businesses can grow and recover when times get tough.
We also need to cut unnecessary red tape. That means modern online permits, progress trackers, and faster approvals so entrepreneurs aren’t stuck waiting for months.
I’ll work closely with the Katy EDC (Economic Development Council), Chamber of Commerce, and public safety departments to keep business districts safe and thriving.
When small businesses succeed, Katy succeeds, and I’ll always stand with our local entrepreneurs.
Community engagement shouldn’t stop on Election Day.
That’s why I want to launch a no-cost Katy Internship Program so young people can get hands-on experience in local government and learn how our city really works.
I’ll also push for ‘Residents Meet their Local Officials’ forums so residents and officials can both hear directly from everyone. So residents can feel listened instead of ignored.
And public safety matters. Neighborhood watch programs and town halls give residents a real voice and build trust with law enforcement.
Government works best when people are involved, and I’ll make sure Katy’s voices are always heard.
Transparency builds trust — and right now, we can do better.
I’m advocating for open data so residents can see city spending in real time, from contracts to emergency funds, through an interactive dashboard I call #KatyBudget.
I also support easier access to public safety reports.
